Verify your blogger blog

Before you can submit your Blogger sitemap, you'll need to verify that you own the blog. To do this, just log in to your Google's Webmaster Tools account and under Choose verification method, select Add a meta tag as your type of verification.

Note: You need to use Add a meta tag instead of the Upload an HTML file as the verification method because Blogger does not allow you to upload files to the root folder of your blog.

Now, Copy the provided meta tag.

Log in to your Blogger blog, go to Layout, then in the Edit HTML tab, add the copied meta tag immediately below the <head> tag of your HTML. Click SAVE TEMPLATE.

Now go back to your Google's Webmaster Tools account and put a Tick in the checkbox next to:
"I have added the META tag to the home page of http://yourblogname.blogspot.com" and click the Verify button.

That's it, and you are done. Your blog will be verified almost instantly!

Once you've added the meta tag and have verified your Blogger blog, please don't remove the meta tag because Google will check your blog once in awhile to make sure that the meta tag is still there. If its not there, your blogger blog site will be unverified.

TIP: A simpler and faster method to verify your Blogger blog is to log in to your blogger account and in your Dashboard, scroll down to the bottom and look for Webmaster Tools and click on it, then on the next screen click on Enable Webmaster Tools. That's it! your blog is now verified.
